Aiguille de la Noire 2010-04-21

Post by jumpturn »

Rode up to Helbronner and skied the Aiguille de la Noire with Martin. The normal approach looked rocky at the start, so we diagonalled in 100m higher across some hanging snow fields connected easy mixed sections to reach the upper couloir. The snow on the hanging glacier was so awesome that we didn't get any pictures. Some guys had cut in lower and tested the 2nd snow field, which was quite good on the left, but crusty hard pack on the right. The last drop was non-descript avy debris skiing for the most part.

The Aiguille de la Noire skis the hanging glacier top right and then down on the other side of the right ridge. The face here normally involves some raps.

Bump. Think I missed this when you posted it. I was in ignore-skiing-cuz-I-can't-do-it mode.
