Devil's Bedstead

The snow here in Idaho is staying around longer than usual. It's a great combination of warmth in the valley to melt the access roads and freezing above the snow line to keep the snow around. I was able to get my Subaru into the trailhead at Kane Creek. This made for a short approach to ski the north face of the Devil's Bedstead on Friday.

The face from the top

I ate a PB&J sandwich, transitioned to ski and Bob put his board together. The weather had started to cloud up so I wanted to get moving. The top was a horrible breakable crust, then windblown hardpack and then finally it turned to glorious corn. After the elation of the corn, the bottomless isothermal slush below 9K was a downer!

The choice of lines on the face is awesome!

We didn't have any wine at the end of the day
, but there was good smoke and we stopped at KB's in Ketchum for a bitchin' burrito! I'll probably try to sneak in one more before clipping bolts and plugging gear.
