Hi everyone -- Apologies for posting this here in the trip report section, but I didn't know where I should say hello.

A friend of mine from Salt Lake City recommended I check out the forum since he is very experienced in all things backcountry.

I am looking to get into backcountry touring and riding so the posts I've seen so far are very inspiring.

Any tips or advice anyone has about beginning would be greatly appreciated. I consider myself an advanced rider in bounds and am looking to progress with some more challenging terrain and better powder.

Perhaps one day I'll be ready to go with some of you on here...For now I am starting the process with avalanche training and slowly accumulating gear to take to Alpental or some more tame backcountry places in Washington.

Cheers,
Jason

Jason,
What nice formatting and punctuation you use! Are you new to Washington, or just to backcountry skiing? Another very useful site for this region is www.turns-all-year.com. I hope your new interest leads you to some great experiences and safe travel in the mountains. Further posts like this could be placed in the site's "Episodes" section. Have fun!
Sincerely,
Drew

Hi Jason,

I moved your topic.

My somewhat-serious recommendation is to have lots of fun and don't get killed! Maybe we'll see you somewhere out there.

Sky
